Why strong brand imagery is a necessity, not a luxury.

Updated: May 6

Your brand deserves to be seen, remembered, and chosen.

The power of strong brand imagery is underestimated.

Of course I am biased, but I truly believe that your visual identity can influence any potential clients decision about whether or not they want to work with you before they even read your information, or find out your pricing.

For this reason we need to stop viewing professional brand photography as a luxury and start seeing it as the necessity it really is.

Let's get stuck in!

First impressions happen in seconds. In our digital world, potential clients often encounter your brand visually before any other touchpoint.

Brand photography is a crucial investment in your business and its goals, serving as the visual ambassador of everything you stand for.

Building Credibility

If you have invested in your imagery by working with a professional photographer it signals to your customers that you are taking your business seriously.

Consistent, high-quality imagery across your platforms conveys an attention to detail and professionalism that potential customers will find attractive.

This suggests that you will also take their order/project/problem seriously, and as such builds credibility and trust in your customers’ minds.

Furthermore, your investment into professional imagery also positions you as an established entity rather than a new business or temporary side hustle.

Trust is essential for your customers in order for them to make a buying decision, and poor quality imagery could result in losing that customer to your competition.

Expressing Individuality

How do you ensure that your brand stands out from your competitors?

Brand photography is one of the tools you can use to stand by visually communicating what makes your business unique.

This is especially important if you are a sole trader. You need to sell yourself as well as the service you are offering. People don’t just buy from people they trust, they buy from people they like too.

This visual individuality creates recognition and memorability. When your imagery authentically represents your unique approach, values, and offerings, you attract the clients who resonate with your vision.

Creating Connection

Did you know that the first thing us humans are able to recognise and are drawn to as babies is another person’s smiling face?

Human-beings thrive on emotional connection and we can build this effectively through visual storytelling.

Brand imagery tells your story through thoughtfully chosen visuals so that you can convey your company's history, values, and mission without saying a word.

Strong imagery humanises your brand. Showing the faces behind the business creates relatability when potential clients can envision the people they'll be working with.

This means that trust barriers lower and connections form more naturally.

Instilling Confidence

Your audience are not the only ones that will benefit from the confidence your brand photography can build.

Strong brand imagery can also build confidence within you and your team.

When you see yourself being the successful business owner/professional/creative that you are then it is easier for you to picture yourself in that role and combat imposter syndrome.

For your team, professional imagery of them doing what they do best can instil a sense of purpose and pride in their work.

This confidence then carries through into your client interactions.

When you know your visual presentation is strong, you can focus on delivering exceptional service rather than worrying about first impressions.

Fostering Brand Pride & Engagement

When your visual identity truly reflects your vision and values, you and your team become enthusiastic brand ambassadors. Strong brand imagery creates a sense of ownership and pride.

This authentic pride is contagious and inspires clients to share their own positive experiences with others, leading to brand advocacy and word of word referrals to your business.

Ensuring Recognition

How do you ensure that your customers recognise you and your business across all of your platforms?

By using your brand imagery consistently to create a cohesive story that threads your website, social media, and marketing materials together.

This recognition builds over time as your customers see your brand imagery more and more.

Marketing principles state that a customer will need to interact with your brand on at least 7 occasions before they will buy from you. So the more you use your brand imagery, the more effective it will be.

Eventually, even a glimpse of your signature colours or photographic style can trigger brand recall, which gives you an advantage against your competitors.

Financial Gains

I know, I know, spending hundreds if not thousands of pounds on photography can seem like a wasted investment.

But, respectfully, you're wrong.

A customer is going to spend money if they perceive a value in your offering.

Yes, your offering may solve their problem perfectly, but if your business doesn't look trust worthy or credible, has no personality, and poor quality images on your website then your customer may walk straight into the loving arms of your competitor who has invested time and money in those areas.

Why? They may think your business is a scam if they can't see any real people, that you are overpriced for the perceived value you are giving off, that you don't take your business seriously so why should they?

Not only that, but if your customers perceives the value of your competitor's offering to be higher than yours, then they will actually pay more for a worse service/product.

Strong brand photography allows you to charge more for your time and expertise.

Time To Take Action

If your brand imagery isn't delivering these benefits, it's time to invest in professional brand photography that truly tells your story.

Remember that strong brand imagery isn't about perfection, it's about authenticity. The most effective visual identities are those that genuinely represent the essence of the business they portray.

Your brand deserves to be seen, remembered, and chosen.
